About Dr. K

I am a Doctor of English and a Literature, Rhetoric, and Composition instructor at the University level with seven years of experience. I am also TEFL/TESOL certified as of December 2020. From 2015 through the present, I have privately tutored students from middle school to college in a variety of reading and writing-intensive subjects. I get great satisfaction from helping my clients create individualized learning goals and watching them grow and succeed.

I have a Doctorate in English (PhD) from Saint Louis University. I also have a Masters from the University of Iowa and I have a BA in English and History from William Jewel College and the University of Oxford (UK). In the Spring of 2020 I was given St. Louis University's Fournier Award for Outstanding Teaching and I also completed a Certificate in University Teaching Skills through the Reinert Center for Transformative Teaching and Learning.

Short Term 1:1 Online Tutoring

 

This option is for those who need urgent or short term help with one specific project or are not sure about committing to long-term tutoring. “Short Term” is defined as needing ten or fewer tutoring hours.

Long Term 1:1 Online Tutoring

 

This option is ideal for students or families looking for long-term, consistent tutoring help. Best for students looking for help with time management or consistent support for the duration of a semester or year. This option is also available for those who need a high volume of hours (eleven or more) in a short span of time.

Group Tutoring

 

For families with multiple children who need tutoring, for groups of students who attend the same class and would like additional help with the same class assignments, or for groups who would like a specific curriculum taught to a small group of students (especially homeschooling groups/families).

Asynchronous Editing/Feedback

 

This option is only available after an initial 1:1 session to discuss the project or the student’s general needs. After that point, students with a partial or full draft may request asynchronous written feedback. These sessions are ideal for the busy student who would like individualized feedback but does not have enough time for synchronous sessions.
